When my husband proposed, it was romance novel worthy. He COMPLETELY surprised me by chartering a private sea plane to take us from Lake Union to Sucia Island in the San Juans. We popped some bubbly, gazed at the dreamy mountain view, he got down on one knee…. I was on cloud nine! Dream Man, Dream Proposal, Dream Ring, next stop… DREAM WEDDING. The only problem? There are approximately 90 billion decisions that need to be made between ring and wedding day, and I made the colossal mistake of thinking I could Pinterest my way to wedded bliss. All. On. My. Own.
What time would the ceremony start? How wide should the aisle be? How big is a dance floor? Are there enough outlets for the DJ? When should I set my RSVP date? Who will take home the gifts? How long of a song do I need for my processional? WHO TELLS THE EMCEE WHEN TO MAKE ANNOUNCEMENTS?
I found so much advice online, but how was I supposed to know the good advice from the bad? Some decisions are right for some weddings, but are they right for mine? My head was constantly spinning, and I’m pretty sure my sweet husband-to-be reconsidered that proposal on more than one occasion. I found out the hard way that wedding planning was certainly not all champagne and cake tasting, but the silver lining that came out of my experience was the founding of Wilkins Weddings.
I’m a sucker for a magazine-worthy table-scape, but what I love even more is providing my clients the amazing wedding planning experience I wish I would have had! Drink champagne, taste ALL the cake.
I can’t wait to make your wedding dreams a reality.
